I have two short legged Jack Russels sisters both aged 2 years 1 smooth hair and 1 wire haired. Lou Lou the short haired JR has started rubbing her bottom along the floor and licking her bottom and it is now looking sore could you please tell me why she does this.

Sounds very much like Anal glands need emptying, go see your vet, it only takes a few minutes, and if not done the glands can become infected.some dogs need this done at regular intervals, also try feeding dry dog food it helps this problem.

You could try a bath and then apply some cortisone cream, as it sounds like an itching allergy? Jack's do have problems with allergies to their skin. All dogs occasionally "ride the rug" so to speak!
