New Puppy

Is there any special training & methods to helping a new jack Russell puppy settle into a home where there is already a 1 year old resident Jack Russell? The older 1 is a boy & the new puppy is a girl. They are barking a lot at each other.

Yes I agree with the above letter, things will settle in time, just NEVER leave them alone together, mine are both 3yrs old and when I go out even for just 15mins I put them in separate rooms, as I do not use a crate.

Never leave them alone without supervision!

Hey,
Yes, this can be tricky at first. I would not leave them alone without your watching them for a few months. The older JRT is setting the ground rules right now and this takes time. The pup needs to learn this and then things will calm down. You might try putting the pup in a kennel where she can see everything that's going on with the older JRT when she starts barking. This should help her to stop. Never, give the other dog out of the kennel a treat without giving it to both of them. They should both settle down in a month or so. After that you will have the best of friend JRT's and be glad you did, because this breed is much happier with another JRT.
Good luck and GOD bless JRT's and their families!
