I am dog sitting for two JRTs whilst the owner is on holiday. The bitch has nasty habit of biting her leg and causing serious injuries and has to wear a conical collar almost constantly, especially at bed time. The owner has told me that thorough tests have been done by her vet and they have no idea why this is happening.I have had four dogs in the past and never come across this problem before. Owner has tried all sorts of creams and preparations, to no avail. Is this something peculiar to Jack Russel? Really hope you can help. mick

mess for Stef, belgium
by: Mick of England

Many thanks to Stef of Belgium for your comments. Cannot be licking off of lotions, she hasn't had any on for ages. She is 6yrs old, and I'm not sure if this leg has been injured or whatever, but I will certainly check with the owner when she returns home in 5 days. Once again mny thanks for you reply, Shalom,Mick

I WONDER IF SHE IS TRYING TO GET ...
by: ScooterMama

Hello,
This is only the second time I have seen this in a JRT. The first one was because of allergies. I wonder if she is trying to get the lotions and creams off of her leg. JRT's are very skin sensitive.
Wow, maybe you could google this problem and see what comes up.
Fanthom pain could be another problem. She believes that she is having (or had) some sort of pain or discomfort in this specific leg.

Please, if you can, let me know how she is doing. I would also tell the owners to look for a VET that treats(more)JRT's and maybe that would help.

The best to you and the poochies!
Shalom,
Stef, Belgium, TEXAN JRT LOVER!
