What are these little black bumps on my JRT's skin. It started with one and now there is at least five to ten of them. Only one is visible on her leg. I can feel the others that are spread on different areas of her body when i pet her. At first, i thought it was a tick. But it is not that. Please help!

Hello JDD,
I would say there is probably one of two things going on here. First, is your JRT a mix? The reason I ask is that some JRT mixes will have this. Especially if they are mixed with a schnauzer or some other breeds. They call these schnauzer bumps and you can see them at www.schnauzers-rule.com
They are not harmful, but can become infected and must be treated. To treat use a cottonball and apply either witch hazel, peroxide or a proxide shampoo.
Many owners have reported, that when they changed the dog's food -- making sure there was no CORN in the ingredients, or giving the dog corn improved the situation.
The other thing it could be is a type of dog warts. If you don't see them becoming infected I don't think I would worry. If you do then, please take your poochie to the VET.
