Jackie the Jack Russell Terrier Needs Your Help

This is not a happy story but I don't know what to do. I have a much loved dog called Jackie who has had a severe anxiety problem for more than 12 months since her mate Mollie became ill and had to be put to sleep.

She starts shaking when we go out and destroyed blinds, curtains, chewed on the window frames, trying to get out. Finally she chewed through a lattice fence and ran away to my daughter's house where we let her stay and she seemed to be settled with another dog and more company to keep her happy.

However now she's trying to dig her way out of her house and has ripped her curtains,so things are desperate. I have photos of damage that you wouldn't believe. I've had her on medication and even bought a special jacket but nothing worked. Only strong sedation and that's a rotten way to live. Unfortunately I have to work so I'm appealing to anyone who might be able to take on a loving but needy dog who needs full time love. I've had her for 12 years and would happily pay all expenses for the rest of her life.

The only alternative left is euthanasia which would be horrendous. Please!! Is there any help out there.

Sue Johns.

Grieving
by: Kazza

Your little 4 legged child sounds like she/he is grieving & is going through the angry bitter stage. Perhaps she needs a break from the house? A distraction? I know it may cost a bit to do this but consider a kennel facility for maybe 2 weeks. Also, I've heard that dogs like our JR breeds like a comfort item of some sort. Do you have anything with your other dogs scent on it? Pillow? Towel? Toy? We have an old pair of jeans that my hubby first wore when we got our JR, in her kennel and she cuddles up to it like a security blanket. I honestly think, a break for her/him where she/ can be cared for would be a good move. Then introduce her/him back home. It'll do you a world of good too. Good luck ;-)

Solution?!
by: Sissela

Hi,

Are you sure you want to give her away?
Other wise I might have a solution that doesn't
Involve medication, but it does require patients
And much love.

You can email me if you want to know more.

Take care and if I don't hear from you, good luck!

See an Animal Therapist
by: Brook Diggle

Contact an animal therapist! Don't give up on her, as one animal lover to another. You know she just wants to please you, however it sounds like there are more underlying issues.

Good luck to you, and Jackie!"

Have you tried Bitter Apple sprayed on things she might bite or eat up ?
