Jack Russell Puppies

Hello! I have a Jack Russell who is in heat. We were ready for puppies and took her to a stud to be bred. They only tied once. I was wondering how many puppies should I expect from only one tie? This is her first litter. I was told by a vet that small dogs should be tied more then once so the female doesn't have one big puppy that could potentially be harmful. So can I expect a few puppies from one tie?
