12 year old Jack biting feet turning hair reddish brown in color

It's not excessive biting - could seem he is cleaning. However, I notice that the hair on his back paws on top of toes is turning color. From white to reddish brown. Should I be concerned. What causes this?

Sounds like allergies to me. Alot of jacks get allergies and they tend to chew their paws and wipe their faces after they eat.

Do you live near water? Could it be mud on paws?

I would take to vet if it continues. May need cortisone.
