worming 3 week old jrt's

I know I must worm my puppies and their mommy but I don't know what to expect as far as the process goes. Will there be a visible sign of worms, will they be dead or alive? How should I handle this re: contamination of their bed/whelping box is concerned? Please help and thank you.
