Why do some jack Russell's have their tails cut off???

Cutting off tails (docking) is done for hunting dogs. There tails are docked (by someone who knows what they are doing) so hunters can grag the short(numb when docked)tail and pull them from foxholes.I bought my jrt from a breeder that docks all their pups tails at 2 days old.
