YES, YES, YES, ! NOW IS BEST!

Hello,
I wish I could speak to every JRT/mix owner out there concerning this(or all dog owners of any breed). Yes, now is the best time. They learn quickly. I don't know where you live, but we live in Belgium where it rains A LOT! So, I suggest to those who have this same problem OR if you work all day and the pup/dog is alone for over 3-4 hours, that you purchase a WhizDog off the web. It has been a life saver for us and our poochies. We can even travel for one overnight and they can still relieve themselves. Very humane! I would not purchase the live grass ones or others out there. ONLY the WhizDog. They have small, med. and large ones, and it's so easy to use. You just lift up the plastic grate and place newspaper underneath. You simply clean up the potty and put it in the toliet, the urine goes on to the paper and I change that out every Wednesday. Simple, and Ginger was 1 and 1/2 when we introduced it to her and within 2 days she had it down.
So, if you just want to train them to go outside, it's best to start with the newspaper, then as they accomplish that, move the paper closer to the door, and then place it outside. Usually it takes about a week for the JRT's to figure out where they are to relieve themselves. Lots of Praise when they do go outside! Check out Dove Cresswell's site to the right also. She is spot on with this.
