Keeping the jack russell outside.

Hello there! I was hoping to get a jack russell but it would need to be kept outside all year long. Where I live we have all four seasons. I know how small jack russells are... but, i was wondering if they could be kept outside EVEN during the winter and sometimes the temperature may be below 0 degrees or below... SOMETIMES! So my final question... can a jack russell be kept outside during the winter season and all seasons? Thanks for your time!

No I think it's not a good thinking that Jack Russell lived outside the house even in winetter session. If you love your jack russell then why you keep outside the house. You must make a small home for your jack russell. So, that it can also safe from winter. I hope you try to understand my point and keep your jack russell inside the home.

Our little jrt just wants to with us all the time. She sits with us to watch tv, sleeps on our bed and if cold slips under the blankets. She has her own car seat and harness, she just wants to be part of, and is a loved member of the family. Why would you keep a dog like this outside. Don't get a dog

Keeping a dog outside

Hi Taylor,

That's ok, maybe I was a bit hasty too. I just get annoyed when someone asks your advice, and then gets stroppy when they don't like the answer.
Everyone has their own opinions on how to bring their dogs up. There are no rights or wrongs, just different views.

Good luck with getting a pup...and don't forget to post a piccie when you get one will you?

Keeping a dog outside

Hi again,

I am so glad that you are getting a Jack, and doubly pleased that you are going to keep him indoors with you.

You sound offended at my reply! You asked a question, and I answered it. You asked for an opinion, and I gave you mine.

I didn't say it was a BAD thing and that a dog can die outside. I just can't understand why people want a dog if it going to be kept outside 24/7.

Outside dog

I have to agree with Anonymous.

Dogs are very social animals, and love human company. The thought of a tiny little puppy left outside, chills me to the bone! Why get one at all?
If there is no way you casn keep it inside with you, the PLEASE don't get one, or any other breed either.
To bond with you, they need to be with you as much as possible.

why?
by: Anonymous

I guess my main question would be why would you want to get a dog that has to be left outside? I would not personally suggest leaving at JRT let alone any dog outside especially in the winter and we have winter here as well and my JRT HATES even going out to go to the bathroom and I feel bad that she has to even go out in the cold blowing snow and I have to shovel her a path just so she will go.

I suggest you re-think getting a dog at this point.
