Have a ten yr. old Jack Russell male who has started trembling, usually in the evenings - living in a climate which is not usually cold, but has been more than usual lately. He also is sleeping more than usual. Has been vet tested for Addison's and results came back negative. Will possibly be referred to specialist which is not in our budget. Other than above symptoms (sometimes he does not eat as eagerly as usual and is on vet prescribed food) he is usual feisty, full of energy self most of the time. Thank you for any input.

JR trembling NEW
by: AnonymousAnnie

My 9 mth old JR - Jake - trembles, usually in the mornings. I did quite a bit of research on the internet and it appears this is not uncommon in JRs. There is a neurological complaint that JRs can have that causes trembling but I must admit I'm not convinced my Jake has this. Next time Jake is at the vets I'll ask.

TREMBLING AND SHAKING IN JRT'S...
by: ScooterMama

Hello,
Trembling and shaking in JRT's/mixes is actually more common then you might expect.

Saying that, I have never spoken to a Vet that came up with the "whys".

My girl Ginger is just under 3 and she shakes when she is in a new place or unfamilar territory. I just tell her it's OK and sit with her awhile.

I don't have an answer, but I know that the test are showing negative, so maybe you should wait a little while longer, as the weather is getting ready to change.

If your sweet poochie starts to take a turn for the worst, then I would say back to the VET.
But, if he starts to return to his old self, I would not go with the specialist. It can be in the thousands of dollars for this type of workup and there is no guarantee that you will get a definitive answer.

So, please let me know how he is doing. The best to you all,
Stef, Belgium, JRT TEXAN LOVER!
