i just got a jack russell puppy. she is 12 weeks old. i have had her for about a week, and she hides in a corner and acts like she is scared all the time. i spend time with her all day trying to make her feel more comfortable, but it seems as if it is not working, she is still acting the same way. is there anything i can do to help her feel more comfortable and get her to be more active?

thank you for all you advice that you have given me. we have been trying to bribe her with treats and toys, and it seems to be working a little. she is walking around and exploring a little now. but if we get up and move while she is out of her corner she runs back to it and stays there until we sit down again. so we are just trying to give her time and hoping that she will adjust soon.

Still thinking
by: Pics & Tics

Mandi I have racked my brain trying to think of something to help this little baby and I just can't think of what else you can try. I really think she may come out of it on her own in time. Dogs can be like people and some can be a little spooked sometimes but eventually work their way through their fears. Maybe she will too. Has there been any improvement since your last post? If it continues, I would let your vet check her out to see if he can determine anything out of the ordinary.

Best of luck to you and little baby.

Poor baby
by: Pics & Tics

Hi Mandi,

Have you tried taking her outside and letting her smell around?

Do you have another animal in the house, or had one recently that she still has the scent of and maybe feels scared about that?

Have you tried a new toy that is shaggy that she can chew on and shake?

Anybody else got an idea for this poor baby?

I'll be thinking Mandi.
